Peter Cetera, Aloe Blacc, Jerimih, and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band join Fair Grandstand Lineup

(May 1, 2017) -- One of Chicago’s original members, a Retro Soul artist, a rapper, and a full-combat-trained military band have been added to the Toyota Summer Concert Series of the 2017 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons | Vons. The Fair runs for 26 days from Friday, June 2 through Tuesday, July 4, and is closed the first four Mondays and the first three Tuesdays.Tickets for these acts are now on sale at sdfair.com

Peter Cetera, performing on Thursday, June 8, is one of the original members of the legendary rock band Chicago, and continues his long and successful career to this day. He became the voice of Chicago for the band’s classic hits, "Questions 67 and 68," "25 or 6 to 4," "Just You and Me," and "Call On Me.” From “Chicago X,” Cetera took the lead on "If You Leave Me Now" – it became the first Chicago single to hit No.1. He scored again on "Chicago XI" with "Baby, What A Big Surprise.” "Chicago 17" racked up the hits for Cetera with "You're the Inspiration," "Stay the Night," and "Hard Habit to Break.” Cetera eventually left the band by 1985, and scored another No.1 hit with “Glory of Love.” He followed that with chart busters like "After All", (with Cher) "One Good Woman", and "Feels Like Heaven" (with Chaka Khan).

This concert is free with Fair admission on the third and fifth levels, with upgrades on the second and fourth levels from $31, on the Terrace from $46, on the Floor from $46, and on the Floor with dinner in the Turf Club from $129.

Aloe Blacc, on Saturday June 3, is an Orange County native, and blends salsa, broken beats, hip-hop, and ‘70s-style soul into his unique style. He is best known for his singles "I Need a Dollar,” "The Man,” and "Wake Me Up,” which topped the charts in 22 countries. “Lift Your Spirit,” Blacc’s third studio album received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album at the 57th Grammy Awards in 2015. Blacc is also a member of musical duo Emanon, alongside American record producer Exile. This concert is free with Fair admission on the third and fifth levels, with upgrades on the second and fourth levels from $34 and on the Terrace from $40.

Jeremih, on Wednesday, June 28, was born and bred on the southside of Chicago. He taught himself to play several instruments, but didn’t consider himself a vocalist until college, when he partnered with producer Mick Schulz and the two worked on Jeremih’s debut album. His first hit, “Birthday Sex,” reached platinum status during the summer of 2009, and has more than 73 million YouTube views to date. Among his other hits are “Imma Star (Everywhere We Are,” “I Like” featuring Ludacris, double-platinum “Down On Me” featuring 50 Cent, double-platinum “Don’t Tell Em” featuring YG, and the platinum “Planez” featuring J. Cole. Jeremih cites Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and R. Kelly as his biggest influences. This concert is free with Fair admission on the third and fifth levels, with upgrades on the second and fourth levels from $34 and on the Terrace from $40.

3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band will open for Anjelah Johnson at the July 4 Grandstand show, before the fireworks.The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band has a rich history. Today, it is stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The band was established during World War II. It has deployed numerous times throughout its history. In addition to the initial deployment to China in WWII, the band’s combat history includes a seven-month deployment in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm from October 1990 to April 1991. The band returned to that same region in February of 1999 and 2000, to perform musical goodwill tours. In February 2003, the band returned to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom for a four-month deployment. The 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing also supported Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2005-2007. All members of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band are combat trained Marines. With combat veterans within their ranks, they will give full meaning to the term “Marine Musicians.” This concert is free with Fair admission on the third and fifth levels, with upgrades on the second and fourth levels from $34 and on the Terrace from $40.

The Fair also presents the Paddock Concert Series, known for its intimate setting with festival seating and will feature a variety of nationally-known and totally fun artists. These concerts are free with admission to the Fair and begin at 8 p.m.

About the 2017 San Diego County Fair


Ride ‘em cowboys! “Where the West is Fun” is the theme for the 2017 San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|Vons, remembering the rough and tumble Wild, Wild West and celebrating how the West is fun today. The 2017 Fair will feature a Wild West saloon, numerous Western-themed educational and historic exhibits and country music for everyone to enjoy. There is a new Sheriff in town and it is you!
