Holiday of Lights Sponsorship Information
The Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is a spectacular drive-through light show and exhibit, themed for the holiday season, with more than 400 crowd-pleasing, family-oriented displays.
For many in San Diego County, touring the Holiday of Lights has become a family tradition. Also, the displays provide the backdrop for many corporate and private holiday parties held in the Grandstand skyboxes. The displays are organized into themes, which include: Candy Cane Lane, Toyland, San Diego County Fair, Treasures by the Lake, Del Mar Racetrack, the Twelve Days of Christmas and Elves at Play.
A new feature, the Holiday Hayride, was introduced in 2009 to great success. On the first four Fridays of the event, visitors can tour the light display in the back of an open haywagon. Their ticket also gets them hot chocolate or cider, plus a festive holiday cookie. The loading area, at the Paddock, is a fun place to hang out, with live holiday music, marshmallow roasting and additional food and beverages.
||Traditional dates are Thanksgiving through the first Sunday after the New Year
The event is usually closed on Mondays until the Monday before Christmas (and then it's open seven days a week). The Holiday Hayride event usually runs on the first three or four Fridays. For specific dates, please see the event website (link below).
||Traditionally, the event begins at 5:30PM and ends at 10:00PM on weeknights and 10:30PM Fridays and Saturdays.
