What is The Scream Zone?
Created by special effects and haunted attraction experts, The Scream Zone is transformed into a festival of Halloween entertainment featuring three new-each-year attractions: a Haunted Hayride, the House of Horror haunted house and The Chamber. It is San Diego County's largest and scariest haunted event.
Who is The Scream Zone designed for?
The Scream Zone is designed for a teen or older audience. Although thrilling and entertaining for teens and adults, The Scream Zone is not recommended for children under the age of 10.
How long has The Scream Zone been running?
The Scream Zone began in 1998, and will be in its 16th year of operation in 2013.
What makes the Scream Zone different?
Size — It is the largest haunted attraction in San Diego.
Effects — The entire Scream Zone is created utilizing the latest in dark attraction technology, sensory deception, and creative actors.
Spinning Tunnel — Scream Zone has the largest spinning tunnel in San Diego, which creates some very strange reactions from patrons who dare to pass through the rotating labyrinth.

What does it take to create The Scream Zone?
Workers — It takes the efforts of nearly two dozen builders and staff, putting in more than 2,600 hours of labor to assemble, paint, decorate, and prep The Scream Zone.
Actors — The Scream Zone hires a staff of 50 performers who will spend more than 500 hours preparing their costumes and use over 50 pounds of make-up in preparation for their gripping portrayals of ghosts, spooks, and zombies.
Construction — Work begins on the Scream Zone the week after the San Diego County Fair ends in early July. Once the area is cleared, materials are hauled in from storage and framing of the walls begins. By August most of the walls are assembled. Throughout September, props are designed, created, and installed; actors are selected and trained; and final preparations are made for the debut the first part of October.
