Carlene F. Moore is the Chief Executive Officer of the 22nd District Agricultural Association, which produces the San Diego County Fair and owns and operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Moore began her career in the Fair industry more than 30 years ago as a clerk at the El Dorado County Fair in Placerville. She worked her way up through the organization and became Deputy General Manager in 2001.
She then led the Placer County Fair and Events Center in Roseville and the Napa County Fair Association in Calistoga before joining the team in Del Mar as a Deputy General Manager. In 2020, she took the reins of the organization as it grappled with the especially devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the events industry. As CEO, she has helped guide the District to stronger financial footing; managed the return of the San Diego County Fair after two years of cancellations; oversaw the opening of The Sound and the reopening of the Del Mar Equestrian Center; led internal reform efforts; formed key partnerships to allow the Del Mar Fairgrounds to serve as a mass vaccination clinic; and initiated a comprehensive strategic planning process that will result in a new master site plan.
Moore is an active and respected member of industry organizations, including as the Board Chair of the California Construction Authority and as a committee chair in the Western Fairs Association. She also has been an active member of civic organizations, chairing the Calistoga Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center, and the Arts Council Napa Valley.
In addition, Moore has been a Rotary Club member, a headhunter, a consultant, and a youth volleyball coach. She is also an accomplished home baker and supplier of treats at staff meetings.
Moore and her husband Aaron have two adult children, whom she raised while working and earning a degree in Strategic Management from California State University, Sacramento.
